The Merlion of Singapore was first created in 1964 as a logo for the Singapore Tourism Board. With the head of a lion representing the original name Singapura (meaning "lion city") the and the body of a fish representing the fishing village origins, the Merlion symbolises the has become a mascot that represents Singapore. There is even a fountain statue installed at the mouth of the Singapore River, at the heart of the city.
A Day in the Life of a Merlion imagines the Merlion going through a day in the bustling city centre. It begins with a murmuring daybreak over the Marina Bay, blossoming into a glorious sunrise. The Merlion then "goes to work" amidst busy and industrious rhythmic motifs. The day comes to a close, with a contemplative sunset giving way to bright shimmering city lights.
