Sea Stars is inspired by a trek on the Sister's Island Marine Park, an unspoiled offshore twin island system containing precious coral reefs and marine biodiversity. The opening 5 note motif (because a sea star has 5 arms!) is central to the entire piece, and is presented through various transformations depicting the mysterious aquatic world, a sea star righting itself after being flipped upside down and the popping soundscape of pistol shrimps in the shallow waters. Sea Stars hopes to raise awareness of our extremely beautiful but fragile marine ecosystem around Singapore.
